Grants Pass Center for Spiritual Living

Winter 2009

December 24, 2009

Dear Friends of Grants Pass Center for Spiritual Living,

I can’t help but wonder as we sit at the dawn of this New Year, what beautiful things will unfold in the coming months. I await it with full expectancy of Spirit’s grace flowing through our Center and our lives. You can feel the full impact of our collective connection to God when you walk through our Center’s doors for Sunday service or any other event. It’s a demonstration of that love and connection.

The month of January will bring our traditional “Back to Basics” month. If you’d like to have a review before the Sunday service and you own a Science of Mind book (if not, it might be a good time to purchase one), I encourage you to read the section of the Science of Mind that we’re covering that week. January 3rd, Rev. Marcia will be speaking about “The Thing Itself”, (page 25). January 10th, I’ll be speaking to “The Way It Works” (page 35). January 17th, we’ll have Cheryl Long Riffle talking about “What It Does” (page 40) and on January 24th I’ll finish up with “How to Use It” (page 51). On the 5th and final Sunday of January I’ll be giving my talk based on a book by Neal Donald Walsch entitled, Happier than God. We’ll have some available for you in the bookstore. This is a practical handbook for living and embracing the wonderful gift of creative power that God has gifted us all with.

We are continuing our Practitioner Training, year I in January. This is an ongoing training for people who have taken the prerequisite classes to enter Prac I. We have 4 new Practitioner’s in training in Prac I. It’s so exciting to see this happening. Having a strong Practitioner core has been an intention of mine since I first started volunteering as the Sunday coordinator almost 4 years ago. Since then we have attracted a few new Practitioners from Medford and Crescent City. I’m encouraged as I see us grow into a more vibrant, alive and active community. Isn’t Spirit amazing?

I want to encourage you to reach out to me or a practitioner when you feel a need for spiritual counseling or affirmative prayer support. We know that there are times when recognizing the action of God in your life can be a challenge and we are devoted to supporting you in that process. We are not mind readers, however, so if you have a need for support, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Our contact information is on the back of our Sunday bulletin and on our website; www.grantspasscsl.org

Also, our “Need a Ride?” service is available to those who can’t make it to Sunday service or any other GPCSL event because they don’t drive or don’t have a vehicle. So, please call Amy Ingraham a few days in advance, so that she can set you up with someone who is willing to volunteer a ride. We don’t want anyone to be left out.

I’ll be offering another “Foundations” class beginning sometime in February. If you are interested please sign the “I’m Interested” sheet on the activities counter, so I can see what the best time to schedule this class is. This class is the prerequisite for many of the certified United Centers Courses that we teach at GPCSL. If you’ve never taken it, or just want to take it again for review I encourage you to sign up. We always have a great time in Foundations.

Rev. Helen Downey will be offering a once a month mid-week “tune-up” on the first Wednesday of the month starting February 3rd at 6:30.

On Saturday, January 16th at 6:00, we’re having a “Spiritual Movie Night”. We’ll be showing a movie called, “Brother Sun, Sister Moon”; based on the life of St. Francis of Assisi. Admission is free and we encourage you to bring a friend or neighbor and we’ll have a brief discussion of the movie after the showing. There are refreshments available for a donation. The more the merrier!

I’m enjoying being the minister at GPCSL and I hope you enjoy being a part of our Center. It takes all of us to build a spiritual community. Please never doubt your importance as a part of the whole. I see that our Center is growing in numbers and consciousness and it’s a wonderful thing to witness. I have so many ideas and activities that I’m anxious to bring to you this year. I’m also setting the intention to become a “full time” rather than “part time” employee of GPCSL. I invite you to join me in that intention.

On New Year’s Day at 3:00 I’m going to have an intention setting service in the sanctuary. We will be making a commitment to release the old ideas/beliefs that no longer serve us and invite God to express Itself in our lives through our new beliefs and intentions. I invite everyone to join me for this service.

Let me take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful holiday season and an incredible New Year filled with all God’s generosity and grace. I also want to thank you for all the support I’ve personally received from each one of you through my journey to ministry. I feel that GPCSL has “grown me” in the last 4 years and I am deeply grateful.

In Love and Gratitude,

Rev. Michelle Ingalls
